On 8th September 2021, the WESET partners held the opportunity to discuss for a thriving wind energy sector in Egypt and establish further cooperation and new connections beyond the project’s timeline.
The open event organised in Cairo was the project’s final conference where outcomes are discussed, together with chartering a forward-looking and collective effort to grow and sustain this important sector in Egypt. The Egyptian consortium members Arab Academy for Science and Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT), Ain Shames University (ASU) and British University in Egypt (BUE) along with RCREEE and NREA showcased a cooperative stakeholder effort for the sector’s human capital development, and shape the discussion on how education, governance, private and public sectors can come together shaping the future of Egypt’s wind power.

In particular, during the event, AASTMT presented how a small farm powered by wind energy can adopt ICT solutions and build on standardised approaches to enhance food production processes and location identification, transparent monitoring procedures and innovative business partnerships. Besides that, it was highlighted the way that MED Food TTHubs is interconnected with such an approach, since it establishes and operates seven pilot Trace & Trust Hubs forming a transnational network playing the role of a one-stop-shop for traceability and authenticity for “added value” Mediterranean food products.
